Susan Doc Finished, Heading to Film Festivals

Following the completion of the Susan documentary, the film is now being reviewed by various distributors as it makes its way through the film festival circuit.

After actor Bruce Willis’ diagnoses of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) with primary progressive aphasia (PPA) went public, conversations about the disease have increased exponentially. Susan will continue that conversation. After being diagnosed with FTD and PPA, Susan Suchan advocated tirelessly for others. In dramatic fashion, she put a face to FTD, turning on its head the idea that someone with a disease like this doesn't have a voice.

Susan captures the story of a family’s fascinating history and how the past plays into current-day dynamics that exist because of their matriarch’s involuntary life journey and unorthodox life planning. Filming took place over the course of several years, beginning in 2015. Kirkpatrick & Kinslow’s Russ Kirkpatrick directed and produced the documentary, with Director of Photography Samuel Calvin.

The Oklahoma-based film crew also includes Wendy Parker, Sha’ree Green, Wendy Garrett, Nicholas Szabo, Brian Gilliland, Ryan Weaver, Mark Gullickson, and Britni Harris. The film was edited by Los Angeles-based filmmaker James Kicklighter, the score was composed by McKeever Arnold in Oklahoma City, and Visual Effects Artistry was completed by Brady Foster, also in Oklahoma City.

Filming locations include Tulsa, Oklahoma, Noel, Missouri, Minneapolis, Minnesota, New York City, New York, and Panama City Beach, Florida.

The project is produced by Kirkpatrick & Kinslow and Executive Produced by Andy Kinslow. Sydney Alison is the Assistant to Producers on the project.
