Susan’s story (Working TItle) Feature Documentary

Susan’s Story (Working Title) has entered a new phase, moving it closer to completion, with an expected 2024 release date.

Kirkpatrick Kinslow Productions has engaged the Los Angeles firm JamesWorks Entertainment, with James Kicklighter to complete post-production on the project.

Following word that Bruce Willis has been diagnosed with FTD, Frontotemporal Dementia, with a PPA, Primary Progressive Aphasia, conversations about FTD have increase exponentially. Susan’s Story will continue that conversation.

The subject of Susan’s Story, Susan Suchan, was also diagnosed with FTD, with a PPA disorder. In dramatic fashion, Susan puts a face to FTD, turning on its head the idea that someone with a diagnosis like this doesn’t have a voice. Susan Suchan advocated tirelessly for others.

Set against the backdrop of Oklahoma’s glowing sunsets, a lush ribbon of river in southwest Missouri, and the sugary sands of Panama City Beach, Florida, Producer/Director Russ Kirkpatrick, with Director of Photography Samuel Calvin, capture the story of a family’s fascinating history and how the past plays into current-day dynamics that have to exist because of their matriarch’s involuntary life journey, and unorthodox life planning. Filming took place over the course of years, beginning in 2015.

The Oklahoma based film crew, also included Wendy Parker, Sha'ree Green, Wendy Garrett, Nicholas Szabo, Brian Gilliland, Ryan Weaver, Mark Gullickson, and Britni Harris.

The project is produced by Kirkpatrick & Kinslow, Executive Produced by Andy Kinslow.

This is the second feature documentary project Kirkpatrick & Kinslow has collaborated on with James Kicklighter. The first was the global sensation, The Sound Of Identity, which Kicklighter directed, now in domestic and foreign distribution in multiple territories. The Sound of Identity has been in 70+ film festivals and screenings on all 7 continents, in 34 countries.

For a 5th collaboration with Kirkpatrick & Kinslow, Composer Aaron Fulkerson will be scoring the Susan’s Story film. In addition to being a prolific screenwriter, Aaron has composed and performed or directed previous film scores for Kirkpatrick & Kinslow projects.
